Brock Michael Walker (born November 17th, 1951) is an American doctor, entrepreneur, and inventor. He is named on more than 80 US/Int'l patents and his work has been used in government and civilian applications.

Early Life and Education

Brock Walker was born to Jerrold and Yvonne Walker on November 17th, 1951 in Gaylord, Michigan. Walker grew up on a farm in an isolated farming community of less than 350 people located in the Northern Michigan's lower peninsula.

Walker's mother and father were avid skiers and everyone in the Walker family learned to ski at a very young age, with Walker learning to ski at the age of 5. He earned selections on six different junior national ski teams and in 1971 he was the United States Junior National Ski Champion.

Walker achieved success throughout his skiing career as an amateur and professional ski racer including U.S. Olympic Training Camps, FIS Can-Am and European Cup Racing Tours. He ended his racing career competing on the International Professional Ski Racing Tour as the youngest competitor ever to race on the tour.

Career

Walker grew up in a rural farm community, but it was skiing competition that provided him with an avenue to experience international travel at an early age. During his younger years, he was exposed to the ski industry's international business of product research, engineering, and manufacturing. Simultaneously as an athlete, he was gaining knowledge in human performance and health sciences. A blend of these experiences has lead to many business successes in different industries, countries, Fortune 500 companies, as well as private and public government entities.

After high school Walker continued to ski race and attend Johnson State College in Johnson Vermont and afterwards he earned his doctoral degree from Palmer College of Chiropractic in Iowa. Following his doctorate, Walker opened the Walker Clinic P.C. By 1990, it became one of the largest back pain clinics in the country. Walker managed several hundred cases per week. In addition to his practice, Walker managed a consulting and advisory business for various clients including Insurance Companies, State Legislature, Auto Industry, Judiciary Court System, Expert Witness for Court Appearances, Lectures and the first D.C. to be appointed as an advisor to MI Blue Cross Blue Shield.

During the 1980s and 1990s there was a substantial recognition and uptick in job related muscular-skeletal disorders and this caused Walker to turn his focus from the daily clinical treatment of patients to the prevention of their ailments.

Walker sold his practice and launched a new company that focused on solving human interface problems. The company would dedicate itself to developing services and solutions that could improve the way people interact with their products and environments.

Walker has invented, designed, and advised numerous solutions for user performance including seating innovations and human-interface environments for Fortune 500 corporations, Law Enforcement, the US Department of Defense, the US NAVY, NASA's Space Program, Indianapolis Motor Speedway, and NASCAR. Walker's innovations helped change race car driver's performance and safety globally. He invented many custom high-g-force race car seats including a one-of-a-kind medically-engineered & designed solution for an Indy 500 driver who won the Indianapolis 500 Race with a broken back and shattered pelvis. In 2013, he was a co-owner of an Indy 500 race car entrant number 98.

Walker partnered with the Director of Aviation and Occupational Safety at the Office of the Deputy Assistant Secretary of the Navy to develop technology aimed at enhancing troop safety and mission readiness for deployed forces.

Additionally, he served as an advisor to the United States Director of Naval Safety & Survivability and advised a strategy focused on mitigating pilot fatigue and enhancing crash impact attenuation.

Walker is a distinguished figure in the fields of healthcare with an entrepreneurial track record for solving problems through invention & design. His efforts are based on the inspiration that we will never be able to redesign the human body, but we can re-design the world around it. He may be best known for the invention of MEARS (Medically Engineered Active Response Systems): a user-operated, medically-designed Assembled Seating Platform (AP) designed to convert a user's interpretation of support, fit and comfort into a numerical formula called a Comfort Profile. The proprietary software system collects user data related to ergonomics, biomechanics, anthropometrics, human factors and functional human dynamics.

Walker has invented healthcare solutions for high profile Cardiovascular-Thoracic Surgeons that suffer from muscular-skeletal disorders resulting from long hours of physical strain during surgery and founded a company to specialize in converting high value Human-Information into healthy back care aftermarket products.

Government & Private Ventures

Walker has collaborated with various government and private ventures. He has an exclusive Innovation Partnership with Herman Miller serving as an inventor, innovator, and technology licensor to Herman Miller's pioneering Research & Development Teams. He is the inventor of PostureFit™ and Zonal Support and Distribution Technologies found in Herman Miller High-Performance Task Chairs yielding a North American NeoCon Gold Awards. He also invented and collaborated with Geiger Furniture International resulting in the recognition of an International Red Dot Award.

His work with NASA included being an industry advisor for the International Space Station X-38 Crew Return Vehicle (CRV) Program, Future Crew Exploration Vehicles, Astronaut Protection and Safety, Appointment by NASA/Johnson Space Center to Universities Space Research Association's (USRA) Division of Space Life Sciences (DSLS), industry advisor for Mission to Mars Constellation Project, and being a consultant for Space Suit & Seating Technology.

Walker also worked on many Federal, State & Local Law Enforcement vehicle innovations to improve human performance, safety, endurance, and comfort.
